Fall Exhibition - GARBAGE COLLECTION

Fall Exhibition - GARBAGE COLLECTION

September 26 – November 7, 2007
Opening Reception: Wednesday, September 26, 6:00-9:00pm

This fall, we are excited to present "Garbage Collection," an exhibition of new work by two emerging artists dealing with the theme of garbage.

Pittsburgh-based glass artist Matthew Eskuche (sculpture shown above) and Brooklyn-based artist Anders Bergstrom (painting shown here) both make fascinating work based on the forms of crushed cans, discarded wine bottles and newspapers, bent drinking straws, and other trashy subjects.

An essay written by garbage anthropologist and NYU professor Robin Nagle will accompany the exhibition.

*** Please join us Wednesday night, Sept. 26th, from 6 to 9pm at Greenjeans for for the opening reception! ***

Both artists will be at the opening. Free copies of the newly re-launched American Craft magazine will be available at the opening reception, and new editor Andrew Wagner will be in attendance. The reception is sponsored in part by Brooklyn’s delicious Applewood restaurant.

Craft My Ride Competition

Craft My Ride Competition

Calling all craftsters!

This fall, Toyota is sponsoring a cool competition cleverly titled "Craft My Ride" for creative types like you to make handmade car accessories for the Scion. We've been asked to  serve as judges and help promote what we think is a pretty neat competition.

Construct the ultimate cup holder. Build a bunk bed in the back seat. Knit a steering wheel cover. Whatever you do, make it fun and make it well!

The competition is already underway, and the deadline for entries is October 22. All entries will be judged on creativity, usefulness, and marketability.

The winner will take home a 2008 Scion XD five-door subcompact. Runners up will receive cash prizes. Not bad!

To learn more and download an application, visit the "Craft My Ride" website.

Have fun, and good luck!

Greenjeans on TV

Greenjeans on TV

On August 29th, Jae and I were featured in a story on the CBS Early Show about couples in business together.

Filmed in part at Greenjeans, as well as our apartment and the DUMBO waterfront, it's a cute piece and was a lot of fun to do!

You can click here to watch it (I have a higher quality version up now) and read more about how it all happened on the blog.

Thanks again to Amy Kean for spotting the Hear, Hear interview and asking us to participate!
